State of Kansas, Dental Assisting Certification Requirements

Dental Assistant

You may perform basic dental procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist.

There are no education or training requirements.

Dental Assistant With Expanded Duties Training

With training from a licensed dentist, you can perform coronal polishing.
To perform coronal scaling, you must complete a board-approved course, and your supervising dentist must be able to show proof of your training and report it to the Kansas Board.
To assist in the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide or oxygen, you must be certified in CPR, and have completed a board-approved course that included 16 hours of instruction with both clinical and didactic instruction in the theory of pain control, anatomy, medical history, pharmacology, and emergencies and complications.
