Dental assistants play a critical role in dentist offices across the country. They not only help dentists during examinations but also perform important administrative tasks. As a dental assistant, you’ll benefit from regular daytime hours, paid time off, job security, and more.
The dental assistant program at Meridian College provides extensive hands-on training including an externship at a dental office, where you will assist the dentist in treating actual patients.
At the end of your education, you will be prepared to perform numerous tasks alongside a dentist.
Your dental assistant training will include:
- Preparing the patient for treatment
- Supporting dentists during procedures
- Preparing tray setups
- Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
- Taking x-ray examinations
- Obtaining dental records
Meridian College cannot guarantee employment or a minimum starting salary upon graduation; however, placement assistance is available upon successful completion of the program.
