State of Alaska, Dental Assisting Certification Requirements
Dental assistant:
In the state of Alaska, dental assistants who are working directly under the supervision of a licensed dentist are able to perform basic dental procedures.
There are no education or training requirements.
Dental assistant qualified in coronal polishing procedures:
You must earn a certificate in coronal polishing.
Submit a notarized application for to the Alaska Board of Dental Examiners.
There is a fee that changes yearly.
You must have either completed a certification course through an accredited program OR
Be certified through another state and have proof.
Certification must be renewed by February 28th of every odd year.
Dental assistant qualified in restorative functions:
You must have a certificate in restorative functions.
Your certificate must be through a course approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
You must pass the Western Regional Examining Board's restorative exam, or another type of approved exam within five years of applying for certification.
Licensing must be renewed every odd year by February 28th.
