Dental Assistant
You may perform basic dental procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Your supervising dentist must ensure that you complete Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and maintain it.
DANB Certified Dental Assistant
By holding the DANB Certified Dental Assistant Certification, you are qualified to perform additional functions.
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
You must be at least 18 years old You must be currently certified in CPR You must have a high school diploma or equivalent You need to either have a DANB Certified Dental Assistant certification or a Registered Dental Hygienist license, successfully completed a formal program in expanded function dental assisting. Or, you must already be credentialed to perform expanded functions by another state or Canadian province with equal or greater standards. Complete the MBDP jurisprudence exam with a 90 percent. Submit an application and pya the fee to the Maine Board of Dental Professionals.
