Unitek College provides professional development, externship and clinical placement, and employment assistance to its students. We strive to make sure all of our students receive guidance and mentorship from Career Services specialists. Through this partnership, students acquire skills that help them find and maintain employment. Unitek College's Dental Assisting program is a good fit for students that love working with their hands. This program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits of a Dental Assistant, focusing on the treatment-room care of dental patients.
Unitek College provides a strong foundation in the skills and experience needed to succeed in a career as a Dental Assistant, combining in-class instruction with hands-on lab skills experience. Externships provide a hands-on opportunity to put the skills learned in the classroom into practice.
Courses cover all aspects of dental assisting and include infection control and sterilization techniques, how to handle medical emergencies, the correct procedure for taking dental X-rays , Coronal Polishing teeth, the placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants, and taking impressions, and the use of various dental instruments. Topics covered in the program also include oral evacuation, fixed prosthodontics, pharmacology and pain control, preventative dentistry, how to assist with oral surgery, and tray setups.
